I'm back | Hair Update

Hey everyone? What’s good?
So sorry I’ve been MIA, been super busy. But I’m back now. I really missed blogging and I was so happy to catch up on all my fave hair blogs.  Just wanted to stop by and give an update on what’s been happening to my hair.
I’ve been consistent with my regimen, which is great. On my last washday, I tried DCing on dry hair and I loved the results!! I’m definitely going to be doing this regularly. But my hair is thicker, so detangling is not quite easy.
I’m about 3 weeks post and I’m still wearing my hair out. Usually, I wear my hair for about 2 weeks after texlaxing; then under the wig it goes till the next touch-up.  But I’ve been enjoying my hair so much; it’s much thicker and so healthy. Now if only the length will catch up. You don’t have to wait for your hair to be long before you wear it out; you can still enjoy it in whatever length it is now. There are a lot of hairstyles you can rock with short hair, get creative!!!
I recently wore my hair in two flat twists. I love this style so much; I didn’t have to restyle daily. I just M&S each morning before I head out, then tie my satin scarf once I get home. It really helps my hand-in-hair syndrome. I’m working on incorporating what is called Hair of the Week (HOTW); hairstyles that I can wear for the entire week without restyling. If you have any ideas, please feel free to leave a comment.

Wash day: Protein treatment gone wrong

Hey hairlistas!!!! Whats good? This week, I noticed some breakage. I realised it’s been 5 weeks since I did a hard protein treatment. It wasn’t wash day yet so I grabbed my Double Sheen Argan Oil Leave-in conditioner and sprayed on my hair. It contains hydrolysed Vegetable protein as the second ingredient on the list of ingredients. I sealed with coconut oil (FYI, coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft and helps to reduce protein loss. If you’re suffering from Protein Overload, it’s advisable to stay away from it). I noticed later that the breakage reduced greatly. I just bought this leave-in and I’m loving it!!! Wash day finally came around and here’s how it went:

Water for hair growth

Water.  Chemically known as H2O. It makes up about 70% of Earth’s surface and is essential for sustaining ALL life forms. And it is also essential for hair growth. Your hair needs moisture to survive. If you truly desire long, healthy hair, then water must be an important part of your regimen.
Ways to incorporate water into regimen
• Drink it

Water is essential for many body functions, hair growth included. And scientifically, the human body is about 70% water. When you drink enough water, you get more energy and have healthy skin and hair. Many beauty queens and models have claimed water as their secret to looking young. Water also helps with weight loss as it boost metabolism (it also contains zero calories). The daily recommended intake is 8 glasses (about 2 L). Unfortunately, many don’t like water because of its bland taste. If you’re not used to drinking so much, start small and gradually increase your intake. Personally, I drink 3 L of water per day. And I love the benefits!!!I’ve lost a bit of weight since I started and my skin looks much better. There are a lot of water apps you can download and use to monitor and keep track of your intake. My favourite is the HydroCoach app. I love this app so much I sent an email to the developers telling them how much I love it. Water apps can be downloaded from Google Play store (android devices) or iTunes (iOS devices).

Washing your hair with water is extremely important. It is important you maintain the moisture-protein balance of your hair. When there is an imbalance, you’ll suffer breakage. Washing hair, apart from cleaning, replenishes moisture.Try to wash your hair at least once a week. Our hair needs moisture to survive. Also, moisturise your hair with a water-based moisturiser (again, if water is not the number one in its list of ingredients, then it is not a moisturiser, no matter what it has been labelled). Make sure you seal with a natural oil after moisturising to retain the moisture longer.
Hope this was helpful!!!

Wash Day: Easy Breezy

Hey dearies!! How's everyone doing??
If you follow me on Instagram (IG name: fatee_haircademia), you’d have seen my faux bob. This was my protective style this week and I think I’m in love!!! I’ve tried to do a faux bob many times before, but it never came out right. I think it’s because my hair was shorter. Now that my hair is a bit longer, the faux bob came out perfect. I got a lot of compliments about it. I even posted the picture on my personal Facebook page and the compliments came flooding in!!! I think I’ve found a go-to protective style; I’m definitely going to be doing more of this in the future.

Relaxer Day

Hey y'all!!! Hope we are all good.
So I relaxed my hair at exactly 16 weeks post. My stretch has been a breeze, but I was happy to finally relax my hair. Here’s how it went:
• I used ORS No-lye relaxer in normal strength. I love the lye relaxer but I thought I’d try this one.
