Wash day | 3 weeks post

Hi guys!! Long time no post.
So I'm now 3 weeks post and before I go into my washday details,  I'd like to ramble a bit om what's been happening to my hair for the past three weeks.
1) I HATE FLAT-IRONED HAIR!!! If you read my relaxer day post,  you'd know I flat-ironed my hair to do a length check.  Well, I really hated it. My hair was so limp n flat I was actually beginning to miss my many weeks post hair with lots of new growth. God really hears the cry of our hearts coz a few days afterwards, I got caught in heavy downpour on my way home and was drenched. First thing I did when I got home was look at the mirror. How happy I was to see my texlaxed kinks return!! Then I took the picture below

2) It's official: I suck at styling my own hair. There were days when I just stared at my hair in the mirror thinking "what do I do with you today" The fact that I have loads of hair pics on my phone didn't help at all. What do I do? Please help a sister out!!! However, here's a few styles I tried
Braid out

Frizzy Bantu knots

Flexi-rods

3) Despite my styling issues,  my hair has been on its best behaviour. Seriously, this is the best I've seen my hair since I began my hhj. My problem since I  began my hhj has been keeping my hair moisturised for a period of time. Then I went to visit my sister, who is natural, and when I touched her kinks, I was amazed at how soft it was. I asked her what she uses to moisturise and she said she just spritz some water and then seal with Shea butter. So I started sealing with Shea butter and Oh lala!! My hair stays moisturised for up to 2 days now and is uber soft. Sorry Coconut oil.
4) My product stash has been going through what I call the "Great Purge" Well, I noticed my hair seems to thrive better when I use just a few products at a time. Details about all that will be in its own post.
Now onto my washday proper,
- Detangled my hair in four sections with an oil mix of Coconut oil,  Olive oil and Amla oil. Prepooed for 1 hr.
- Clarified with Pantene voluminising shampoo.
- Tea rinsed with Green Tea and Mint.
- Dced with ORS Replenishing conditioner, Profectiv Mega growth Detangling conditioner and a spoonful of castor oil with heat for 40 minutes.
- Rinsed off DC and T-shirt dried for 30 minutes.
- Applied leaveins- Double Sheen Argan oil conditioner and Organics Cholesterol and Tea-tree oil conditioner. Left my hair to air-dry till about 70% then blowdried on cold air using the tension method, then sealed with Shea butter.
Now, my hair is in two flat twists for the week. I think this is becoming my signature hairstyle (due to my styling rut).
Cheers, Fatee

  2. Who says you didn't do those styles right? Girrrl... Bantu knots look too pretty on you! You can pull it up in a Bun, pin the sides for a fro hawk, accessorize or keep styling it as it is in your pic.
