If you read my last post, then this is not news to you. So here's to answer all your questions.
1) Why did you decide to go natural?
To be honest, ever since I began my hhj last year, I've wanted to go natural but didn't have the courage to do anything about it. I've been relaxed for as long as I can remember and have never really seen my natural hair. Then a few weeks ago, a friend asked me "Will you, at some point in your life, go natural or will you keep texlaxing forever?" To answer her question, I pictured myself at age 50 texlaxing my hair and my first reaction to that image was "HELL NOOOO!!!" I don't want to keep texlaxing for the rest of my life. So I figured, why not go natural NOW??
2) How long are you going to transition?
6 months to a year. I want my natural hair to be at least 4 inches long before I big-chop. And I don't have the patience to deal with two textures longer than a year.
3) Do you have a transition plan?
Yeah!! I've been reading loads of natural hair blogs and most of them said this: you NEVER transition without a plan!! So my plan is pretty much simple: Keep up with my regimen while protective styling 90% of time (with wigs and crochet braids). Whenever I decide to wear out my hair, I'll do styles that can blend the two textures together like bantu-knots, flexirods, twistouts etc.
4) Do you have an expectation for your natural hair?
Not really. Like I said before, I haven't really seen my natural hair so I don't know how it's going to look like. I know my hair is Type 4, but which of the type 4, I'm not sure. One of my sisters is natural, her hair is Type 4b and I literally drool over her kinks!! I'm secretly hoping my hair will be like hers, since we come from the same gene pool. But if it isn't, I'll embrace my hair as it is, warts and all.
I'm really excited (and kinda impatient) about my transition!! I look forward to seeimg my natural hair, getting to know it and falling in love with it. It's a new beginning!
So there you have it. If you have any questions, leave a comment below.
Cheers, Fatee
